I am now working in the Citizen Advice Bureau in Newark which is a small town one hour away from the city of Nottingham. Many people may ask " why would you work there?"
(BTW the computer i am using now cant show Chinese, not to mention typing Chinese)
Well, actually I applied for the Undergraduate Internship Programme organised by the school last year. After some interviews, they picked me and allocated me to work in Newark. (really damn far away><) My work is voluntary in nature so I dont get any pay but travel cost reinbursement. I dont know what I actaully need to do up till now. haha (well, it is my second time to be here) But I guess basically I have to do some research about this town (like today I have to search for information about the demographics in Newark) and then use the information to make a business plan for fund-raising. (they told me this is the most unfunded bureau)
Because of this programme, I need to wake up on 6:45am every Monday. (weather in the morning is freezing. And I must get changed and eat breakfast fast and then go to the city centre to catch the bus to Newark. If I miss one, there will be an hour to wait.
At this stage, I dont how much benefit this work will bring to me but at least it reminds me of my poor english. WHY? When I talk to those native English speakers, I really cant listen to them very clearly and cant speak fluently. My english sucks! Last year, I didnt grasp the opportunity to improve my english in this english-speaking world. This year, I need to do more. Afterall, it is an once-a-life-time experience to study abroad isnt it?
Apart from undertaking an internship, I may also do some part-time jobs to earn extra money. (I am going to interview in a Chinese restuarant tonight haha) My ideal plan is to save all the salary and treat my mum a trip to Korea or somewhere else next summer. ( Can i resist buying clothes and stuff with those extra money? God knows!!)
Also, I will take Japanese as a credit counting course this semster. Well I have mentioned about learning Japanese for so long time (few years?) and now I have to take real actions. Actually taking it as a credit counting course is a big risk because it is hard to get high marks in exam. And this year exam marks start to be counted. However, every toekn has two sides. It is a risk and at the same time it gives me motivation to learn. I know there is some sacrification. But i have made up my mind. God bless me.
On top of work and study, I am also gonna run Travel Society. Actually the workload of the society is not heavy at all. But I can travel around in England for free. (jealous? haha) The first trip is going to Brighton on 9th October. People told me it is a very beautiful place with a stunning beach. I am so looking forward to that.
I think I have told some of you I live in a house instead of the student hall this year. After I am back, I have been busy unpacking and tidying up my new house. It is great to live in a house like that because it gives me the feeling of living in a foreign country. And I got a big room with double bed. (will show you guys pcitures later) Also, many of my friends move out from student halls and live in houses nearby. We can visit each other often. As for others who still live in student halls, they can also come often and have house parties and sleepover in my home. Its gonna to be a year full of fun. (yeahhhhhhhhh)
This year is gonna to be different. I will still skip lectures. I will still go clubbing. I will still play mahjong. BUT, I will use my time more wisely. I hope I can live my life to the fullest and I dont want to waste my precious time anymore.
Please bear my grammatical mistakes and thank you for reading such a long and boring entry.
PS. I am going to skip lectures and fly to Paris between 30th Sep and 4th October. XPP
